Virtual Community Service 

If you are interested in spreading some joy and love during this time of social distancing and remote learning, you can see some virtual opportunities below:

Virtual Volunteering at NYC Service provides a filtered search tool to help you find a service opportunity within NYC. 

Volunteer New York has many virtual volunteer opportunities on their website.

UN Volunteering has a lot of online opportunities.

Hunger Free America has online volunteer opportunities posted on their page.

This page has a compiled list of various organizations and social media campaigns where you can write to those in need.

826NYC will be starting orientations for new virtual volunteers in January 2021. You can fill out their interest form here.

The Macaulay Scholars Council has compiled a list of virtual volunteer opportunities you can participate in on this spreadsheet. Check it out!

If you are interested in recruiting Macaulay students to volunteer with your organization, you can create a profile for your organization as an employer on CareerPath, our online job and opportunities board. Please note that to make a posting, your organization must be classified as 501(c)(3). If you have any issues, send an email here.

Instructions to post a Volunteer Position:

  • Go here: https://macaulay-csm.symplicity.com/ and select “Employer”
  • For first time users, click “Sign Up and Post Job”
  • When posting the job: Select “Volunteer” for position type

Note: Credits towards the community service requirements for virtual opportunities are subject to advisor approval. Students must still follow the usual procedure to submit hours for the Macaulay requirement.


Students find community service opportunities on their home campus; take advantage of Macaulay-sponsored opportunities; or independently connect with organizations on their own.

Macaulay students who participate in service experiences gain the satisfaction of knowing they can have a profound impact on the communities they encounter, and form genuine connections with fellow students.
