Ricardo Gabriel is a Doctoral Candidate in Sociology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His research interests include social movements, decolonial theory/praxis, and climate justice. His work focuses on the role of education in struggles for decolonization and radical social change. Ricardo’s dissertation examines the movement for Puerto Rican Studies at the City University of New York during the 1960s and 1970s, paying special attention to how movement participants challenged colonial discourses in higher education and sought to advance emancipatory knowledge and practices.
